These terms govern your use of the Drift mobile application ("Drift" or "the App") and the Drift website at driftballistics.com. By downloading or using Drift, you agree to these terms.
License
Drift grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on devices you own or control, subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
What Drift is — and isn't
Drift is a ballistic calculator and data management tool. It provides calculated firing solutions based on the inputs you provide. Drift is not a substitute for safe firearms practices, proper training, or sound judgment. Ballistic calculations are approximations influenced by variables beyond any solver's control. You are solely responsible for how you use the information Drift provides.
No warranty on calculations
Ballistic solutions are provided "as is." While we work to ensure accuracy and validate against established references, Drift makes no guarantee that any calculated value will match real-world results. Environmental conditions, barrel wear, ammunition lot variation, and other factors affect real-world trajectories. Always confirm solutions against known data and field-verified DOPE before relying on them.
Your data
You own your data. Your rifle profiles, loads, and settings are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to your profile data on our servers.
If you enable iCloud Backup in Settings, your data is synced to your personal iCloud account via Apple CloudKit. This data is stored by Apple in your iCloud storage and is not accessible to us. If you disable iCloud Backup and delete the app, your local data is permanently deleted — we cannot recover it.
Weather and location data
Drift uses Apple WeatherKit and your device's barometer to provide atmospheric conditions for ballistic calculations. Location data is used solely for weather lookups and is not stored or transmitted to any service other than Apple. Location access is optional — you can enter atmospheric conditions manually.
Reference data
Drift includes a bundled reference database of bullets, cartridges, and calibers sourced from publicly available manufacturer specifications. This data is provided for convenience and may contain errors. You are responsible for verifying that auto-populated values (ballistic coefficients, muzzle velocities, bullet weights) are correct for your specific ammunition and barrel before relying on calculated solutions.
Purchases
Drift may offer optional in-app purchases. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and are subject to Apple's terms and refund policies. We do not collect or store payment information.
Analytics
Drift collects anonymous usage analytics to improve the app. This data cannot identify you. You can opt out at any time in Settings. For details, see our Privacy Policy.
Intellectual property
Drift, its design, code, and content are the property of Drift Ballistics. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer the App.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Drift Ballistics shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App. This includes, without limitation, any damages arising from reliance on ballistic calculations, data loss, or interruption of iCloud services.
Termination
We reserve the right to terminate or restrict your access to Drift at any time, for any reason, without notice.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Drift after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States.
